Bertha Park School
Kirk & Marsh Provided Principal Designer Services for this £32 million project for Perth & Kinross Council. Its design implements the concept of an inclusive barrier-free learning environment addressing the access needs of children and adults who may require additional support. The approach goes beyond physical access requirements addressing the needs of those with hearing or visual challenges. It is one of only 17 schools worldwide and the only school in the UK to have been selected as a Microsoft Flagship School in its adoption of advanced technology to enhance student learning.
The Balfour, Orkney
Kirk & Marsh provided Principal Designer services together with the Building Fabric O&M Manual and Mechanical & Electrical Services O&M Manuals for this £65 million new healthcare facility for NHS Orkney. The facility opened in 2019 and won silver in the best healthcare project category at the Partnership Awards in London.
The substantial 14,500m2 development provides comprehensive state of the art Hospital and Healthcare Facilities to the communities on and around Orkney.
Elms Field Redevelopment Wokingham
Kirk & Marsh provided CDM Principal Designer Advisor Services for this £38 million complex mixed-use regeneration of Elms Field in Wokingham Town Centre. The development comprised residential properties, a new hotel, over 43,000sqft of food and non-food retail units, a cinema, a new play area and new infrastructure including access roads and car parking.
Queens Quay Energy Centre Clydebank.
Kirk & Marsh provided Principal Designer services for the Construction Phase of this £20 million project for extracting heat from the river Clyde to serve a local district heating system. The facility was constructed on a brownfield site in Clydebank adjacent to the river. Ground remediation, UXO and working on or near water were key safety management factors in this bi-phase project.
Ponteland Schools & Leisure Centre
Kirk & Marsh provided Building Documentation services for this new £46 million leisure and educational community hub in Ponteland for Northumberland Council. This exciting development provides the local community with two top-quality educational facilities; a 420-place primary school and a 1,600-place high school, together with a public library, community police facility and new fire station. The leisure centre includes a six-lane swimming pool, gymnasium and climbing wall.
Waterfront, Dundee
Kirk and Marsh prepared the O&M Manuals for this unique £1.7 million Active Travel Hub on the shore of the river Tay for Dundee City Council. The 200 m2 building serves the adjacent Tayside cycle route and comprises a reception, workshop space, information room and public WC. It is located within a landscaped public realm zone with decorative water features, ponds & fountains, childrens’ play area and urban beach.
